The inspiration for this composition is a group of good golfers having a beer after their round. There is the usual argument about who owes how much on their bets, who has been fudging their handicaps, and whether they should have made the bet on the basis of scratch or net scores. Because there was a dispute on the course about how to play a certain shot, they will consult the rule book before bets are paid.
